  • The addition of a roof rack, or solar panel mounting to a motorhome or caravan adds additional wind resistance for the vehicle, may adversely affect fuel economy and detract from the appearance of the van. Many owners are also concerned about the vehicle leaking from holes drilled in the roof. Adhesive modules are more streamlined and can be applied without roof penetration.
  • Unique Uni-Solar Triple Junction Technology
  • At the heart of the new UNI-SOLAR PVL is the Triple Junction silicon solar cell unique to United Solar. Each cell is composed of three semi-conductor junctions stacked on top of each other. The bottom cell absorbs the red light, the middle cell absorbs the green light and the top cell absorbs the blue light. This spectrum splitting capability is the key to higher efficiency.

  • The UNI-SOLAR PVL Caravan and Motorhome m odules are supplied with the bonding adhesive factory-installed on the back of the laminate. A terminal box located on the top of the panel is used for installation of blocking diodes required for protection of the modules. These laminates are appropriate for a wide variety of applications, especially Caravan and Motorhome installations.

Which solar panel should I buy?

People visiting The 12 Volt Shop ask this question every day. For installations where the panel may be subject to some shading during the day, there is really only one choice, the UNI-SOLAR range. This is because unlike the crystalline panels, the UNI-SOLAR panels have bypass diodes between each cell within the panel. The current can bypass the shaded section, which will result in a much higher daily output when compared to the crystalline panels listed on the following page.

UNI-SOLAR panels will also give more output/rated watt under hot conditions (which includes most of Australia at some time!). For these reasons we recommend UNI-SOLAR panels for most caravans, motorhomes and other mobile applications.
